Magderburg'S Hemispheres Aluminium LIME-8200/36

The Magdeburg's Hemispheres (Aluminium) are used to demonstrate the effect of atmospheric pressure and the force exerted by air on evacuated bodies. The apparatus consists of two precision-machined aluminium hemispheres that fit together to form an airtight chamber. When the air inside is removed using a vacuum pump, the hemispheres are held firmly together by atmospheric pressure and can only be separated after air is readmitted.
