The apparatus consists of four toothed wheels, each 75 mm in diameter, mounted on a common shaft and spaced 6 mm apart. The shaft is provided with a projecting spindle having a slight taper at one end for mounting on a whirling table. As the wheel rotates, the teeth strike a card or pass a fixed point, generating sound whose pitch depends on the rotational speed and the number of teeth.
